Almost 15 times fewer homes built today compared with 2007, when construction activity was at its peak. During this year’s first eight months (January to August) were completed only 4,853 new homes, when in the corresponding period of 2007 were built 71,936 houses. This results from the details of the Greek Statistical Authority and town-planning profession that relied on a recent analysis of the Alpha Bank, indicating the extent of the fall in the housing market during the past few years and especially since the beginning of the economic crisis so far.
