In the context of this Project, our company undertook the development of General Local Plans, with new specifications, in 4 Municipalities of Albania. These studies are a pilot project in Albania and will be a standard guide for similar projects to follow.
The study contract between GAIA S.A. Meleton and the Ministry of Urban Development of Albania, was signed on 27-1-2016, while a three-day agreement was signed between the Ministry of the Municipality and GAIA S.A. Meleton.
The Study was implemented in four phases: the first phase concerned the analysis and the evaluation of the current situation, the second phase concerned the development of a strategy for the study area, investment and pilot development projects, the third phase concerned the final proposal for the development of the region and finally, the fourth phase was the Strategic Environmental Impact Study. The timetable of the study and the delivery deadlines were particularly demanding, however our company responded adequately and successfully within the timetable.
The study “CONSULTING SERVICES, FOR DRAFTING GENERAL LOCAL PLANS, FOR 26 MUNICIPALITIES IN ALBANIA – Lot 5 Drafting General Local Plans for the Municipalities of: URA VAJGURORE, POLICAN, SKRAPAR, GJIROKASTËR” is a strategic planning tool with social, economic, but also ecological extensions which aimed at integrating people and economic activities successfully into the environment, taking into account the balanced and sustainable development of the region.
For the implementation of the study, a single database was created in a GIS environment. This was the starting point for the organization of the geospatial information of the Municipality in categories according to national standards, but also for the decision-making at proposal level.
The deliverable’s of the study were drafted in a GIS environment according to the high standards of GIS deliverable’s as prepared by the relevant Ministry of Albania.
